I found a video article (in French) today that makes me want to get out my tambour hook and hoop/frame and give it another try. My first attempts were less than encouraging, but this guy's artistry is inspirational and amazing!

Oh dear, I’m in love. Did you see that guy’s stash? And I’m happy to see a man involved with needlework. At first I saw him “stitching” with a fine hook like gadget, like a tiny crochet hook. Is that “tambour” type stitching? Later I saw him using needle and thread to attach sequins. The video was too short to get much information.
