The pattern for the Redwork Chicken Weathervane is given here full-size as a .jpg file, but can be easily enlarged or reduced using your computer's photo editing software.
Materials Needed for a 5.5 x 5.5" Project:
• one skein of DMC 6-Strand Embroidery Floss, color #304 Medium Red
• one 10x10" piece of Zweigart 36-count evenweave Edinburgh Linen in Antique White
• size 10 embroidery needle
• embroidery scissors
• 8" embroidery hoop
• Water-soluble fabric marking pen
Fold the square of evenweave fabric into quarters and mark the center point of the base fabric. Center the pattern under the fabric and *trace the embroidery design onto the fabric using the water-soluble fabric marking pen.
Embroider the design using 2 strands of floss in the needle. Use the stem stitch for all lines and a French knot for each dot.*TIP: If you have difficulty seeing the pattern through the fabric, use a light box, or trace the design by holding the fabric and pattern up to a window.
