Definition:

Hardanger is a form of embroidery which developed in Hardanger, Norway.

This stitching style features cutwork, needle weaving and bands or blocks of satin stitch (known as kloster blocks) arranged intricate, geometric patterns.

Hardanger embroidery is worked on a two-thread Hardanger fabric or evenweave linen.
